For those of you wanting to fully immerse yourself in a weekend of all that is encaustic, in day two we will continue to practice and develop techniques learned on day one. I will introduce a few more techniques; image transfer and shellac burn, as well as taking a more detailed look into the world of encaustic (history, relative artists, etc.) Additionally, I will demonstrate how to make your own encaustic medium and discuss how to make your own encaustic colors.
Cost includes all materials, light snacks and lunch. Class will be from 9:00 to 4:00 each day.
Learn to use encaustic paint at my professional art studio located just 5 minutes away from world class beaches in Orange County, California and experience what inspires me every day. Class size is limited to TEN people per workshop so I can spend one-on-one time with all participants as you learn and practice encaustic techniques over a one or two day immersive experience.
Encaustic medium is one of the most versatile forms of art. The medium offers many possibilities allowing an artist a wide range of creative freedom. In day one of the workshop, I will introduce you to some of the basic techniques you will need as a foundation to start creating your own, beautiful and original, encaustic art. Some of the techniques I will introduce:
- Effects of various heating tools
- Creating smooth and textured surfaces
- Photo encaustic
- Mark making
- Incorporating mixed media
- Set up your own encaustic studio
- Resources for encaustic materials
At the end of either workshop you will have the information you need to begin your encaustic practice, as well as an original piece of art created by you to take home.
